It was my birthday about a week ago, so I hope that you'll excuse my missing one issue of this eZine from my (by now fairly hectic) schedule. Not that I've been tardy. Indeed, I've been very busy of late preparing the way for a new business venture that I'm going to tell you more about in today's eZine. Maybe it's the doldrums of midsummer or perhaps it's just the re-appraisals that birthdays bring in their wake.

As more and more people leave for the vacations and we're stuck in the midst of the 'Silly Season' where sales are sluggish and everyone (naturally) is more interested in the sunshine rather than their next sale. So, if you're stuck by your computer, watching a (temporary) dip in your on-line earnings how do you keep your momemtum going?

In fact this is a great opportunity for you to go over your website with a fine tooth comb. Check which pages work and which don't fine-tune your pages and descriptions, link any pages that aren't in the search engines' indexes to to pages that are. Start gearing-up for the start of school and then for Christmas, after all the busiest parts of the year are coming-up. This opportunity to tidy-up my own website led me to re-appraise the various things I'd done to improve traffic and indexing. Effectively to fromulate all the strategies I'd employed. In doing this I was able to codify them and actually turn the information into an eBook!

Why An Autoresponder Is A Must Have For Internet Marketing

Anybody that has an advanced email marketing campaign in place needs to think about getting an autoresponder program to help them out. An email marketing campaign is a great way to increase business, and make your website more visible; but they can also be a lot of work if you do not have everything set up properly.

If you have an email marketing campaign in place, but find yourself asking “what is an autoresponder” you will want to look into its benefits right away. Simply put, an autoresponder is a computer program that automatically answers email that is sent to you. Just think about how much time you spend answering emails. With an autoresponder you will be able to cut back on a lot of it, which will save you time and allow you to work on other areas of your business.

The first autoresponders were not nearly as complex as the ones that are used by many businesses today. In today’s day and age if you have an aggressive email marketing campaign you will definitely want to have an autoresponder program. In the past, if you were going to use email marketing as a promotion tool you would need to be online a lot to ensure that you provided quick answers to potential clients, etc.

The answer to the question “why autoresponders are important” is quite simple. They will allow you to quickly answer your client’s questions and comments without having to personally go into your email account to do so. By not having to personally answer questions you will ensure that everybody is getting the same quick and efficient service.

But one thing that you have to be careful of when using autoresponders is SPAM. If you set your autoresponder to send out messages every so often you will want to make sure that the recipients do not mind. You never want to SPAM anybody, because it can give your business a bad name. Before you start sending out messages make sure that you have permission from everybody on your list. This makes everything much easier in the long run, and also protects you if somebody decides to bring a SPAM complaint against you.

Handling SPAM complaints can be a touchy subject and should be approached professionally. If you are accused of this, be sure to take quick action and ensure the other party that you will no longer contact them.

Overall, any email marketing campaign can benefit from the use of an autoresponder. If you do not have one in place you will definitely want to look into the advantages that it can provide you. Just make sure you do not SPAM anybody, and your new autoresponder will make your business run much more smoothly.

A Product is the Key to your Success

During the past few weeks I've been slowly putting some of the more unruly parts of this website in order. This led me to codify some of the techniques and methods that I'd been developing to improve the ranking, placement and incoming traffic to my site. By the end I had so much material that I decided to convert it into an eBook: The Secret to Maximizing your Web Traffic.

Of course, having a product is'nt good enough. You need both to maket it and to do that a number of support processes need to be put in place. I'll describe the steps briefly below, but if you want a fuller account then you can read the full steps in getting the system up and running in my Blog.

Once you have a product (and I'm talking about an information-based product here) then you need to write a 'landing page' that you can tell prospective customers about and that the search engines will index (my page is the The Secret to Maximizing your Web Traffic page). This should tell visitors about your products and its advantages. It is also good if you can offer your visitors something on this page (I went for a five-part eMail course as this delivers useful information to my visitors whilst reminding them of my product every two days or so). This kind of marketing helps build your eMail list, even if you've not made a direct sale. Of course, once you've enticed your visitors to your website you need to make a sale. For the current projects I've gone for both Paydotcom wihch has an excellent pricing range and good affiliate tools as well as ClickBank as one of the largest on-line merchants of electronic products. Using both of these systems covers much of the electronic sales market.

I now had my product, my landing page, payment and affiliate systems sorted. Of course, once the customer paid they were taken to a page that allowed them to download the product (this had some additional associated products on offer). I also created some tools for my potential affiliates to help them with their affiliate marketing.

All I had to do now was to set-up my eMail autoresponder (I used FollowingUp.com for this). Adding all five of my courses as well as a few follow-up emails for anyone who hadn't purchased the system as yet. With all this done, I hada product and a means to sell it. All that was left now was to disseminate the information to as many advertising sources as possible and to get the landing page indexed by the search engines (which is where the blog articles came into the equation).

 

 

 

Business Tip

Using your Thank You Page

If you're selling something on the internet, even if it's only a sign-up to your eZine then you will have at least one 'Thank You' page. In actuality you may have several such thank you pages usually with just a little text on them thanking your visitor for buying/subscribing/signing-in. What you actually have is valuable web real-estate that you're significantly under-utilizing. After all, anyone who'se reached this thank you page has already trusted you sufficiently to buy from you or to sign-up to one of your offers. Basically they're receptive to you as a vendor and you can use this to your advantage.

Use your thank-you page to deliver ads to your visitors. Or, even better offer them something that's linked to the purchase they've already made. You'll be surprised at how many people buy from you again.
