Welcome to Celtnet's Home for All Things Celtic
Celtnet's Nemeton Home Page
This is the New Home Page for all Things Celtic-Associated on this Site

Welcome to the new home page for all things Celtic and Celtic-associated on this site. The site itself was always intended as a repository for various Celtic and Celtic-associated sources and information for anyone serious about their heritage and history. This site focuses on the Brythonic and Gaulish peoples, ancestors of the Welsh (Cymric), Breton and Cornish peoples of today. In many ways we are the forgotten Celts, as all too many peoples when they think of the term 'Celtic' immediately imagine the Irish and the Scots. But the rest of us are still here, too. Our languages still live, we have ancient traditions, old gods, folk tales that go back millennia and a vibrant and modern culture as well.

So, to redress the balance somewhat I'm concentrating here on those Celts called the P-Celts who speak a form of Celtic different from the Irish and Scots (who, linguistically, are Q-Celts). I will share with you information on the ancient gods of Britain and the Continent as well as bringing you ancient texts, folk tales, ancient genealogies and much more.

As a home page, I'm not going to talk too much here, rather I'm going to let theremainder of the site talk for me. To find information on this site you can either use the navigation system on the left or you can use the information below. Consider this as a 'mini sitemap' that will allow you to better navigate this section of the site. And believe me, there's a lot of information here (almost 1000 pages in all!).

I should, perhaps, mention the use of the term 'Nemeton' for the name of this site. It's P-Celtic (Gaulish in fact) and literally means 'the sacred grove' where the druids used to gather. The name exists today in the P-Celtic languages and in Cymric (Welsh) it's nemed.

Site Navigation

The Celtic Gods:

This is by far the largest section of the site and links through to over 550 files! And there are actually far more names involved than there are files, just because of synonyms. Thats why I constructed a navigation system based on the gods' names and you can link through to the individual gods via the first letters of their names using this link system:

A B C Ch D E F Ff G H I J K L Ll M N O P Q R Rh S T Th U V W X Y Z !

You can also search for the deity of your choice using the Celtic God Search System. Where you can search based on location, all the names associated with the god, as well as any Roman or other deitites linked to the Celtic god.

Celtic Texts

The main texts that I have on this site are the ancient Cymric (Welsh) texts and you can find the Main Page of the Ancient Welsh Texts. This links through to the following resources:

At their most expansive the Celtic peoples' territories extended from Ireland in the West to modern Turkey in the East. This is my attempt at gathering together information on as many of these Celtic peoples as possible. The Celtic Tribes page gives a list of all these disparate peoples. There is also more detailed information on the:
